WORLD – eMarketer has released a report on key digital trends for 2020.
How will the 2020 election affect brands?
The 2020 election cycle should increase brand concern. Election year means candidates will invest in the media to reach voters, which is likely to cause media prices to rise due to increased demand and cause brands to rethink their strategies.
Will media consolidation continue?
Google, Facebook and the Amazon triopolis continue to dominate, accounting for almost 70% of total digital ad spend in the U.S. 2020. But as the triopolis succeeds, consolidation will happen among other digital publishers, meaning that advertisers will have fewer options to spend in to the media.
How does data privacy law change media budgets?
The Data Privacy Act (GDPR), coupled with search engine breakthroughs, has left a gap in campaign goals and metrics. To mitigate these issues, advertisers will (ironically) invest even more ad budgets on Google, Facebook and Amazon.
How will 5G affect marketers and advertisers?
Although early on for 5G, its development will happen faster than we anticipated and will make big leaps towards the end of 2020. Advertisers (and publishers) must pay attention to the possibilities – new streaming formats, better audio and interactive experiences.
What trends in consumer behavior can we expect?
This report outlines several trends that are likely to influence consumer behavior, such as declining social media user engagement and increasing digital video viewership.
