Fiat Chrysler warned that one of its European factories could be forced to shut down production within weeks after key Chinese parts would be missing from production. In China, production has stopped or stalled in many provinces due to the coronavirus, leading to disruption of supply chains and lack of supplies for product production to many parts of the world.
Fiat Chrysler is the first company to announce that the production of its European factory is being jeopardized and may be stopped by the coronavirus. CEO Mike Manley told the Financil Times that four suppliers are affected by the stoppage of Chinese production. One supplier delivers critically important parts to one of its European factories. The unnamed European factory can be shut down within 2-4 weeks.
In Wuhan, the focal point of the coronavirus, there are several major car manufacturers, so if the situation in China does not improve, many car manufacturers may be in trouble.
