Big bigger Biggest?
As if they have a glass ball. At the end of November, a GM executive said that 24 to 26 inch wheels fairly normal are going to be. After all, rims have been growing since the 1990s and the top had not yet reached GM. And where does the American tuner Forgiato suddenly come along? Right, 26 inch wheels.
Forgiato calls the wheels 26 ″ Wire Wheel. The name is not very inspiring, but that means you know immediately where you stand. So they are big rims with many spokes, 127 to be precise. The outer ring is made of aluminum, the spokes of stainless steel. Forgiato is going to make a hundred sets, in February the company will start delivery.
To elaborate on that 26 inch: in “normal people language” that is 66 centimeters. That is as good as half of the Peugeot 205 where this scribe drives around. Probably buyers of old French hatchbacks are also not the target market from Forgiato, but the American company is aiming for hip-hop artists who buy big SUVs and pick-ups. Or old Chevrolet Impala’s, witness the Facebook post below.
Not only the sizes are bizarre; the price is that too. A set of four rims costs eleven thousand dollars, or almost 9,900 euros. But those who still have a thousand dollars can also buy the matching steering wheel. That normally costs two thousand dollars, but Forgiato gives a discount if you buy the four wheels and the steering wheel together. That makes it almost a bargain.
