Owners of a Samsung Galaxy S10 and Note 10 can look forward to a comprehensive Android update. In addition to the current security patch, there are also some functions that Samsung has rolled out with the S20 series.
The new Android update for the Galaxy S10 series is around 1.5 GB in size, and since most of us are hanging around at home, there is no need to point out that you should download the update via WLAN. However, the note is probably out of date anyway due to lush data contracts.
The Galaxy S10, S10 Plus and Note 10 receive new features and functions with the updated Samsung UI 2.1 interface. So you have an improved night mode of the camera. On the software side, you also get the single take mode and professional video. With Single Take you can take a whole series of different photo and clip formats when triggered once and finally select your favorites. With professional video, some manual settings such as adjusting ISO values or autofocus come into the camera app. The new camera functions for the Galaxy S10 and Note 10 at a glance:
- AR zone
- Single take
- Professional video
- New filters
- Selfie sound
- Time lapse in night mode
- Video recording with the front camera in FHD / UHD at 60 fps possible
AR Emoji app has been improved
Your AR emojis will now be created even more realistically, as the update brings improved facial expression recognition to the Galaxy S10 and Note 10. You can also edit the AR emojis more individually. But be careful: All AR emojis created before the update will be deleted after the update as soon as you open the AR emoji app.
Gallery management has been optimized
After the update you will also notice some changes within the gallery application. The update thus ensures that similar images are grouped together to “ensure a more organized viewing experience,” as Samsung states in the patch notes. The search function has also been improved here; So you can soon search on the S10 and Note 10 for the time of creation or the location (with activated location transmission). You will also receive the “Quick crop” tool in the image editing area.
Samsung keyboard gets smarter
A new gesture will allow you to undo or redo actions. To do this, simply swipe left or right on the keyboard with two fingers after the update. You no longer have to switch when looking for emojis or stickers, instead you can search through different elements at the same time. In addition, the multilingual translation and an icon for opening Samsung Pass come into the keyboard.
Quick Share and Music Share
Apple users know it under the name “AirDrop”: With the update to Samsung UI 2.1 you get two new options for sharing files in the quick settings. “Music Share” and “Quick Share”. Music Share allows music to be shared with nearby friends via a Bluetooth audio device. Quick Share lets you share files with nearby Samsung devices.
In addition, users of the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 will receive the current Google security patch as of April 2020. Samsung also states that it has made some bug fixes and stability improvements.
The software update should be pushed to your device OTA in the coming days. If you want to search manually, you will find the update in the system settings under “Settings”, “Software Update”.
