50 lakh rupees insurance demand
All India Bank Employees Union i.e. AIBEA has demanded insurance of bank employees also like medical personnel. AIBEA Secretary General CH Venkatachalam has written to Debashish Panda, Secretary, Department of Financial Services, stating that bank employees are also working at the risk of corona virus during the lockdown. Just as Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced an insurance of Rs 50 lakh for health workers, similarly banks should also be asked to implement an insurance scheme for their employees as well.

Special leave and health policies are also available
Venkatachalam said that bank employees are also taking the same risk as health workers. Employees and officers of banks come in contact with customers in branches. If they show corona-like symptoms, they are asked to stay in quarantine for 14 days. They should be given a 'special holiday' during the quarantine period. AIBEA said that if employees working in bank branches are infected with corona and are hospitalized, then they should get special leave during this time also. Also, the entire cost of the hospital should be borne by the existing group medical insurance scheme.
