In order to protect against the coronavirus, Mol has started manufacturing hand and surface disinfectant products, which are considered defective in Hungary. Group company and engaged in the production of lubricants In just two weeks, Mol Lub Kft. Has transformed one of its Almásfüzitő plant lines that used to produce windshield fluid. The unit operates 24 hours a day, three shifts, and produces about 50,000 liters a day, which can make a significant contribution to the effective management of the coronavirus hygiene situation.
The formulas for the two new products are based on the WHO recommendation, which has been tested and approved by the National Center for Public Health with record speed. MOL Lub obtains the ethanol needed for hand sanitizer from a Hungarian source, so it is a domestic supplier, a domestic company that produces domestic hygiene products.
The first quantities produced have already been delivered by Mol Lub to governmental institutions (eg hospitals, waste management, public utilities) and municipalities designated by the Operational Staff under the Government of Hungary and playing a key role in the management of the coronavirus. Production and delivery will be continuous, eliminating the supply problem. Mol's experts at refineries, factories and filling stations also use this disinfectant to protect the virus in order to ensure that a sufficient number of staff can supply the country's energy supply. At the same time, Mol Lub is working to get the product out of the market as soon as possible, so that the public can have access to what is currently a defective product.
Mol Hygi is available for the time being in a 2 liter recyclable plastic bottle, but Mol Lub will use smaller packs from next month. In addition, the Mol Group will start manufacturing disinfectants in Slovakia and Croatia to cover national needs at its local plants.
Worldwide, shortages of disinfectant are one of the most important means of protecting against the coronavirus. With the escalation of the epidemic, we decided to set up one of our Apple Plant production lines for virus protection. At the same time, in close consultation with the Government of Hungary, we have begun work on developing a product delivery system. Emergency situations require extraordinary solutions. In a record amount of time, it took about two weeks to convert the plant, obtain the necessary permits, and set up the production processes. We very much hope that the hand sanitizers produced at Almásfüzitő will provide a meaningful help in controlling the epidemic
– said Zsolt Hernádi, President and CEO of MOL.
