MUALLIM: The Malaysian Red Crescent (BSMM) Muallim District in collaboration with the Sultan Idris University Education Center (UPSI) has produced 2,800 disposable face protectors for hospital staff and clinics nearby.
Its chairman, Mohamed Fais Jamil, 40, said ready-made face protection was provided for staff at Slim River Hospital, Tapah Hospital, Teluk Intan Hospital, Slim River Health Clinic and Tanjung Malim Health Clinic.
“The idea was to provide face protection for the use of hospital and clinic staff while conducting screening or treatment for COVID-19 patients, coming from the BSMM headquarters.
“Initially, the headquarters only supplied 500 face protectors, but with our initiative, 2,800 units were produced,” he said when met.
The face protector is made of soft plastic and is cut according to the size and placement of the sponge and straps.
It should only be used once during the examination or treatment of the patient and subsequently, should be removed.
Mohamed Fais said he assisted 20 UPSI students who were also BSMM members at the university, using the provisions of the MRC and public donations.
