New Cupra brand announces Cupra Leon and Cupra Leon ST models for Geneva
More specifically, the Cupra Leon hatchback and the Cupra Leon ST are on display today, with the announcement that these models will appear at the Geneva Motor Show in early March.
Cupra Leon also received the MQB platform, a far more modern and spacious interior with higher quality materials, numerous safety and driver assistance systems, a new 10-inch infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital dashboard, and voice commands, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wireless.
The Cupra Leon hatchback is 437 cm long, 180 cm wide and 146 cm high, while the ST wagon is 464 cm long and 145 cm high (269 cm in wheelbase).
Of course, the package also has a more aggressive look, which includes a honeycomb front grille with Cupra logo, modified bumpers, front spoiler, larger air vents, sill set, rear diffuser, rear roof spoiler …
Special colors such as Desire Red and Graphene Gray stand out as well as two matte colors Magnetic Tech Matt and Petrol Blue Matt.
In addition, these models also have a sport-tuned suspension (the car is lower 25 mm and 20 mm in the rear), four-exhaust exhaust system, Brembo brake system with 370 mm discs, alloy wheels with bronze color details (18 and 19) inches), as well as a refined interior (Cupra steering wheel with flattened lower part, sports seats and pedals, bronze color details …).
There are several versions in the range with the 2.0 TSI turbocharged with 245hp / 370Nm, 300hp / 400Nm and 310hp / 420Nm, all combined with a 7-speed dual clutch DSG gearbox. It should be noted that the 310hp / 420Nm version is reserved only for the station wagon which also has 4Drive all-wheel drive. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h takes less than five seconds, while the top speed is el. limited to 250 km / h.
This is not the end as Cupra Leon with Plug-in-Hybrid Propulsion System (PHEV) is also on offer. This means a combination of 1.4 TSI gasoline, electric motors, 13 kWh lithium-ion batteries and a 6-speed DSG gearbox. The combined power of the system is 245hp and 400Nm, and it should be said that it is possible to drive in electric mode up to 60 km.
