The English Court has approved a ERTE what will affect 22,000 people from their department stores. The department store company gave the green light on Wednesday to the temporary employment regulation file, days after the government released its economic package and the tools it made available to companies to deal with the crisis in the coronavirus. As reported by the company, will supplement wages up to 100%.
In this sense, El Corte Inglés was one of the few companies that, until now, had not ruled on its ERTE. Thus, department store workers continued at home on paid leave. “Employees are concerned because they do not know what to expect,” union sources explained a few days ago.
Until now, the company had announced other Internal measures such as the temporary suspension of the change in the wages of its workers in order to guarantee payment to suppliers. In this way, the company planned to have a hundred million euros to face unforeseen events in the coming weeks and to have cash flow.
The ERTE approved by the department store chain will not affect the entire workforce. As acknowledged by the company itself, some of the employees of the closed centers have gone to work these days at the company's supermarkets, which do remain open and require reinforcements, but do not provide data on how many have made this job change.
About 4,000 more people: Sfera and Viajes
The file approved by the department stores is also aimed at Sfera and Viajes El Corte Inglés. In the case of the textile company, with the activity also ceased since the state of alarm was declared, it has launched an ERTE that will affect about 2,000 people.
“This temporary measure will last for 14 days from the date of publication of the Royal Decree and its extension will be determined by the duration of the current state of alarm implemented in our country,” say the company, which ensures that all Affected workers “will have their entire salary guaranteed, since the company will complement the benefits they receive from the State.”
Viajes El Corte Inglés, for its part, has also presented an ERTE that will affect about 1,900 people, which are, for the most part, professionals who work in offices at street level or in those located within the group's shopping centers.
In this case, the file will start counting from March 26 and will last until the end of the health alert. In your case, the company will also complement the benefits they receive from the State.
