Fewer vans and trucks were sold in Europe in February than in the same month in 2019, branch organization ACEA announced on Wednesday. Only more buses and coaches were registered than a year earlier.
A total of 308,350 vans, trucks, coaches and buses were registered in February, 6.2 percent less than in the same period last year. The number of van registrations was 4 percent lower with 130,366 units in February, while the demand for light trucks fell by 18.2 percent to 22,095 units. 18,101 heavy trucks were registered last month, a decrease of 19.3 percent.
Not only is there bad news, because sales increased in two categories. The number of new buses and coaches amounted to 2,428. That is an increase of 3.1 percent. In the Netherlands, passenger car sales stabilized in February. February 2020, with a difference of a few dozen cars, scored almost identical to the same month last year. The best-selling car was the Kia Niro in February. For March, the picture is expected to look very different due to the acute corona crisis.
