Half-Life Alyx has just come out and many gamers are already having the opportunity to enter the virtual world of City 17 with their virtual reality headsets. By exploring the environment recreated by Valve, a fan managed to find an obvious homage to another highly anticipated title that came out only a few months before the new Half-Life, that is Death Stranding.
The user KnightzIX recently published a screenshot of the tribute to the recent work of Kojima Production. The easter egg in Half-Life Alyx represents a box with the Bridges logo printed and the now iconic yellow ribbon all around. But it does not end here, next to the box you can also notice the presence of a black boot with yellow soles, similar to those used by Sam. All of this can be found in chapter 8 of Half-Life Alyx, inside the locked storage room monitored by some laser mines.
In recent months, during the announcement of the launch date of Death Stranding on PC, Hideo Kojima had already shown some new content that will be added to his latest creation and that go to pay homage to the Half-Life saga. It therefore seems that Valve wanted to reciprocate by inserting an Easter egg of Death Stranding also in the new highly anticipated title for virtual reality.
We remind you that Half-Life Alyx is already available on PC for virtual reality viewers: Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality. It is not yet clear whether the title will also arrive on PlayStation VR but Valve has never denied the possibility. What do you think of this exchange of tributes between Valve and Kojima Production within their recent titles?
