Hospital commanders acting in the capacity of institutional commanders, as in hospitals and nursing homes, cannot make decisions on nursing, care and medical professional issues – a government decree on this was published in the Hungarian Gazette today.
The coronavirus epidemic poses a special threat to nursing homes: currently 27 nursing homes have confirmed deaths, 628 caregivers, 87 workers are infected and 66 elderly people have died, of which 34 were cared for at the Pest Road nursing home.
In our weekend article, we pointed out that 22.7% of last week’s 2,300 infected people could be linked to social and nursing homes.
Responsible management of health protective equipment and protection of workers are of paramount importance in these institutions. Hospital commanders began work in late March and have since helped hospitals operate and protect medical supplies. According to their signal, several criminal proceedings have already been initiated for the disappearance of protective equipment.
