The award for Best Alternative Comic at the prestigious International Comic Book Festival in Angulem was awarded to the album comic # 18 a collective of the same name from Zagreb, containing works by authors from about ten countries.
Album comic # 18 he got it Prix de la bande dessinée alternative, an award given since 1982. This year, declared by the French Ministry of Culture Comic book year, competed in 37 editions from around the world. Next year komikaze will be a guest of the Angulem festival and will receive a prize of one thousand euros from Alternative Publisher Unions (Syndicat des editeurs alternatifs – sea).
Komikaze they come out three times a year as a web edition on komikaze.hr, and a selection of comics is printed in albums. Album comic # 18 contains 120 pages of comics, 80 of which are in color, and were drawn by 23 authors from Croatia, Serbia, Portugal, USA, Italy, Czech Republic, Northern Macedonia, Japan, Belgium and France.
Authors of the album comic # 18 are: Smelly Feet Dog, Miro Župa, Ivan Marusic, Damir Stojnic, Hrvoje Sebic-Gaz, Stipan Tadic, Agata Lucic, Luka Čačić, One Yurov i Ivana Armanini from Croatia, who is the editor of that issue, and Iva Atoski, Danica Dedić i Radovan Popovic from Serbia, who is also the author of the cover.
In issue 18 are also Francisco Sousa Lobo from Portugal, Robert Zant from the USA, Štěpánka Jislová from the Czech Republic, Zlatko Kristevski from northern Macedonia, Bambi Kramer, Vitorino Curci i Ferraglia from Italy, Harukichi from Japan, Jelle Kindt from Belgium and Nils Bertho from France.
Album comic # 18 supported by the City of Zagreb, and although the Croatian Ministry of Culture has supported the project through innovative practices for years, it has discontinued support for the magazine over the last three years, despite being the only profiled magazine for a comic book author in Croatia (who has also come of age) .
