Mazda has introduced the MX-5 R Sport, a new special version of this roadster. Production is limited to only 150 copies, each costing around 25,000 EUR.
The MX-5 R Sport is essentially a better equipped version of the Sport model. The upgrades include a new set of 16 inch alloy wheels from specialist RAYS, a gray folding roof, piano black rearview mirrors and a new polymetallic gray body color. Mazda added a burgundy leather trim with gray seams in the cabin.
In addition to these extras, the standard specification of the R Sport edition is LED headlights, rain sensors, rear parking sensors, cruise control, contactless key, as well as a nine-speaker Bose audio system and a seven-inch multimedia system with navigation and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
The Mazda MX-5 R-Sport is only available as a convertible with a soft roof and the initial Skyactiv-G 1.5 liter four-cylinder petrol engine that sends power to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. Power and maximum torque of 130hp and 152NM are enough to sprint from 0-100km / h in 8.3 seconds and top speed of 203km / h. The more potent 183hp two-liter engine will not be available in R-Sport trim.
Mazda said car deliveries could only follow the lifting of current restrictions on the corona virus.
