Now Norway chooses to go the same way – as of Monday, the country closes its airports and ports for anyone who is not a Norwegian citizen.
It announces the prime minister Erna Solberg at a press conference on Saturday.
Want to introduce stricter controls
During the press conference, Solberg explains what the closure of the border means.
– They are not completely closed down in the form that flights with Norwegians should be able to land, explains Solberg.
However, she says that people who are not Norwegian citizens and who do not have a necessary trip to Norway will be expelled.
– The situation is serious and requires a lot of us allies. We have been on a big test, not only Norway, but many countries in the world. Many of us have felt that life has been sold on its edge, she says during the press conference.
Solberg also urges the population to minimize the number of physical meetings and instead talk to each other over the phone.
Two deaths in the country
In Norway, around 1,000 people have been infected with the coronavirus. Two people have died as a result of the infection.
