Many Liga 1 bosses are convinced that the teams in the first tier will have financial problems in the next period due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Valeriu iftime, the owner of FC Botosani, has revealed for ProSport that he contacted FC Botosani captain Rodriguez and sent him a clear message. “I like to be honest with my players, and when I talk to them about one thing, that's how it stays. But unfortunately, this crisis came with the coronavirus and because I was afraid I did not escape. I had to pay the boys first for play-off qualification, but I contacted Rodriguez and told him I can't pay them the full bonus anymore. If this misfortune with the coronavirus didn't come I had no problems ”, announced Iftime.
The financier of those from Botosani continued: “We should have received the last 40 percent of the percentages of the TV rights, those of the last installment of the contract, but I see that we have not received any sign regarding this money. Botosani's rate was 300 thousand euros.
In July we must receive the first installment of the upcoming season in advance, but we can no longer rely on that money because I do not know if we will receive them in time.
Going back to the qualifying first, I understood with my team captain that on Tuesday the boys will only get some of this money because they can no longer pay the full premium at this time. I focus on raising the money for the boys' salaries. However, I assure the players that all the debts to them will be paid.
We will also discuss with Miron from the FCSB, but I also assure him that I will not forget him and he will also receive the money he has to collect from us. But, I repeat that I can no longer pay the first full qualification in the play-off… ”.
