Ajax Amsterdam, the team of the Romanian international Răzvan Marin, returned to training on Wednesday, despite the fact that the current edition of the Dutch football championship was permanently stopped due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Coach Erik ten Hag said he wants his students “To feel like professional footballers again” and, therefore, they returned from Wednesday to the training center “De Toekomst”, in small groups, respecting the rules of social distance.
Groups of three players each day
Thus, on Wednesday morning, Daley Blind, Perr Schuurs and Joel Veltman trained together on the main field, while Donny van de Beek, Dusan Tadic and Răzvan Marin they did exercises together on field number 3, states Ajax on its official website, reports Agerpres.
At noon, two other groups came to train, the first being composed of Lisandro Martínez, Carel Eiting and Jurrien Timber, and the other included Quincy Promes, Lassina Traore and Danilo.
“We thought of the ideal way to return to training and decided to combine the players according to their positions.”, explained Erik ten Hag.
The champion was not established even though the championship ended
The Dutch championship officials decided to end the season for good, last week, without declaring a title winner. Ajax and AZ Alkmaar they were tied for points at the top of the standings, nine stages before the final.
“We hope to be able to play football again in September. Of course, we live in uncertainty and no one knows for sure if we will be able to play again at that moment. “, said the coach of Ajax Amsterdam.
