With the restyling of the compact French, the unprecedented 160 hp draft version also arrives
Like most of the major generalist brands, too Renault its range of electrified cars is exponentially increasing. If the new Renault Clio and Captur E-Tech made their company debut a few weeks ago, now is the time to welcome the Lozenge's first compact plug-in hybrid. It's about the new Renault Mégane E-Tech, which arrives together with the makeover of the range.
And the draft version of the French compact is precisely the biggest novelty of this update of the Renault Mégane 2020. The powertrain of this version will consist of the engine four-cylinder 1.6L petrol combined with two small electric motors for a total power of 160 HP.
The two electric units of the Renault Mégane E-Tech they are powered by the energy stored in a 9.8 kWh lithium-ion battery, which allows it to homologate an autonomy in EV mode of 50 km according to the WLTP cycle. In electric mode the maximum speed is 135 km / h and, in Hybrid mode, in the combined cycle, it declares CO2 emissions of less than 40g per kilometer.
To squeeze the mechanical capabilities of the Mégane E-Tech, the driver will have three driving modes: Pure, MySense and Sport. In the first case, it circulates in purely electric mode, when the battery allows it. The second option instead optimizes hybrid mode and has an additional function E-Save to save energy. And finally, the Sport mode makes the most of the combined performance of the three engines offering dynamic performance.
The commercial launch of the new Renault Mégane 2020 will happen next summer. It is still to be checked whether the new variant E-Tech of the range will be available immediately or if it will wait a few more months.
