The Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, will ask Congress over the coming week for a new extension of the state of alarm until April 26, as he had anticipated Vozpópuli and they confirmed this Saturday socialist sources.
The chief executive has today transferred his decision to the leaders of the main opposition parties. Starting at 3:00 p.m., Sánchez will appear in Moncloa to publicly publicize this extension of the state of alarm.
In this way, if it obtains the support of Congress, the Executive would expand the restrictions that compel millions of citizens to stay home two more weeks with respect to the previous scheduled date, April 11.
The President has adopted this decision after listening to the recommendations of the group of scientists advising the Government and after meeting with the Technical Committee for the Management of Coronavirus, as confirmed by government sources.
It's about the second 15-day extension that the president will ask the Congress of Deputies, whose authorization is needed so that the current state of alarm is extended another fortnight. The confinement decreed on March 15, will therefore last, and at least, for a total of six weeks.
Married demands “efficiency and transparency”
The PP leader, Pablo Casado, He has expressed this Saturday his support for the Chief Executive to extend the state of alarm, but has warned that unity and loyalty in the coronavirus crisis requires “efficiency and transparency.”
In a message on his official Twitter account, Casado reported that he had already received a call from the Prime Minister to inform him that he will request Congress to extend the state of alarm.
“I have once again transmitted to you the support of the Popular Party for the containment measures against the coronavirus. Loyalty and unity require efficiency and transparency,” said the head of the opposition.

Parliamentary sources familiar with the talks have indicated to Efe that during these there was also talk of the day after, specifically possible relaxation of the containment measures since April 27. There are no decisions in this regard, they confirm, but a constant evaluation of the situation.
The conversation with Sánchez, the leader of Ciudadanos, Inés Arrimadas, has also confirmed on Twitter. In addition to announcing that he will support the extension, he has urged the president to launch “some new Pacts of La Moncloa”.
I have called P. Sánchez. I have conveyed our concern about the crisis in #Coronavirus and our absolute willingness to collaborate in the adoption of urgent measures to alleviate its health and economic effects. Faced with a State problem, we propose a State solution.

On the contrary, some groups, such as ERC, have expressed mistrust of such an initiative.
The alarm state started on March 15 and imposed a series of restrictions on the mobility of citizens, which were later extended with additional measures such as border control or the cessation of non-essential economic activities.
