The Mayor of the Capital, Gabriela Firea, draws a new signal regarding the pollution in Bucharest and requests public explanations to the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Economy regarding possible fuel burns at CET Grozavești, “in secret”.
Firea posted images of the thick smoke seen above the capital and asked for public explanations on pollution from the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Economy.
„Tonight (Sunday – n.r.), at CET Grozavești. Some fires, some smoke, some oil. Stealthily! How many people are worried about coronavirus. As a citizen of Bucharest for 30 years and as mayor, I request public explanations from the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Economy! And the Government! Bucharest deserves the respect of the government! ”, Writes the mayor of the capital on the Facebook page.
At the beginning of March, the stations for the measurement of the air quality in Bucharest registered exceedances even with 900-1,000% over the maximum allowed limits for pollution with PM2.5 and of almost 800% for pollution with PM10.
Then, the Mayor of the Capital Gabriela Firea entered into an open conflict with the Minister of the Environment and the Minister of Economy on the issue of pollution in Bucharest. The fire accused two CETs of burning more fuel than needed.
