MADRID – Local people were throwing stones at several ambulances transporting 28 seniors infected with coronavirus in La Línea de la Concepcion in the south of Spain. In this way, they tried to prevent clients from another municipality being imported into one of their homes. According to DPA, the Spanish police reported today that the incident occurred on Tuesday.
Protesters of ambulance convoys blocked the road by a car built across the road and barricades. On the night of today in front of a nursing home where seniors are to be quarantined, about 50 people shouted various threats and set fire to a waste container. Someone threw the guns at the building from the next house. Police arrested two people.
Seniors were transported to the town of La Linea from the village of Alcalá del Valle, about a hundred kilometers away, after the coronavirus had spread in their original home. Three home clients died, at least half of the facility's employees had a positive coronavirus test. The mayor of La Línea, the Andalusian city, today criticized the violent protests of the locals, but he also said that seniors' relocation was not well planned and he learned of it at the last minute.
