From July to December last year, the prize fund paid as part of the check lottery was 138,800 euros, and twice as much was received as additional tax revenues, Natalya Filippovich, head of the tax administration risk management department of the State Revenue Service, told reporters.
In the period from July to December last year, 9,274,824 checks, receipts and tickets were registered to participate in the lottery. The average number of lottery participants per month was 82,608.
Most of the checks registered to participate in the lottery were issued in the retail sector, followed by catering, wholesale and food production.
The sectors where the largest number of discrepancies were identified are retail and catering.
Filippovic said that for participation in the check lottery, the checks of 18,153 merchants were registered for half a year, and it is likely that at least one check was received for every taxpayer registered in Latvia.
The SRS representative emphasized that as a result of the check lottery, 126 taxpayers filed updated declarations, and the SRS collected an additional 372,200 euros in taxes. Violations were found during 36 thematic inspections, resulting in fines of 19,400 euros.
