April 29, 2020 – Formula 1 has had few races that had such an insane race course as the Grand Prix of Europe in 1999. A lot happened at the Nürburgring and that resulted in a very surprising podium. Today this spectacular race is our viewing tip of the day.
The race already started in an unusual way with a broken start procedure, because two drivers were not in the right place on the grid. That turned out to be just the foretaste of what would happen next in the race. Several times the leader of the race was hit by bad luck, while the weather gods also had a say in the German Eifel. It ended up with a very unexpected podium with two Stewart drivers and a Prost driver.
The full European Grand Prix of 1999 can be seen tonight from 8 p.m. on the Formula 1 website and on its YouTube and Facebook pages.
