Prague – An IT system for electronic vignettes with 60 volunteers working on the so-called hackathon should be ready by this evening. Event organizers then want to publish the system and hand it over to the state for free. Hackathon #ZNAMKAMARADA started on Friday at 6:00 pm, and today the event should be attended by Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES) or the new Minister of Transport Karel Havlíček (for YES).
In hackathon, developers work within a limited time to solve a specific problem or create a specified software project. According to the organizers, the developed system could be a substitute for the IT contract, which should be supplied by Asseco Central Europe for 401 million crowns. However, the state cancels the contract.
The main organizer of hackathon Tomáš Vondráček said on Saturday that programmers have finished basic e-shop interfaces and are working on their connection with other systems. Today they should work on details and debugging the entire system, which he believes are often crucial. They want to start the system by 6:00 pm, 48 hours after the start of the hackathon. However, Vondráček admitted that in the event of problems, the work can be extended overnight to Monday.
The order for the information system and e-shop with electronic vignettes was the seat of the Minister of Transport Vladimír Kremlík (for ANO). According to experts and politicians is significantly overpriced, moreover, did not come from an open tender. Kremlík's successor Havlíček announced that the contract will be canceled in agreement with Asseco. The state will announce a new one, which will be significantly revised. Any use of the system by hackathon development will be decided later.
