Although there is a big difference between the flu and covid-19 and doctors are reluctant to compare the two diseases, Miloslav Ludvík, director of the Motol Hospital, told Czech Television that the last flu epidemic in 2019, which lasted six weeks, infected 996,000 people. of which 1,500 died.
“The French studied individual coronavirus infections in 2013-2019 because we have a coronavirus infection in Europe every year. They compared them with the current pandemic and found that the lethality or mortality rate is the same for all coronavirus infections – 1.0,” he added.
He also noted that while the number of coronaviruses is 3.9, in measles it is 18, so one infected person infects another 18 people. “I am very critical of the WHO (World Health Organization), it lacks a methodical role to make people understand what is going on and stop being scared. The virus is incredibly marketable. I think the mistake is in the WHO leadership,” he said.
The director of the Institute of Health Information and Statistics Ladislav Dušek stated that it was still too early to close the coronavirus case. However, he sees the development of the disease in the Czech Republic positively.
However, he admitted that the infection may return in the future. “But we are now very well prepared, the next infection will not burn nationwide, but locally. The reaction time of all the tools we have developed gets us before the disease for a good 14 days, three weeks. We are ready to catch it in time,” he said.
“The healthcare system is incredibly robust, the organization is something we need to keep pampered. The dispatch center was born under great stress and was in a way untapped. But we will prepare it for 'peace' times to map capacity to improve hospital communication and so on. “The pandemic did not only lead to bad things,” he added.
