Only on Tuesday a team from the Ministry of Health checked the situation at Suceava County Hospital, where dozens of medical staff were infected with coronavirus, and decided to close the medical unit only today, although the scandal broke out over the weekend.

“During the day 24.03.2020, the Ministry of Health team led by Dr. Nelu Tătaru, Secretary of State made a first evaluation of the activity of Suceava County Clinical Hospital in the context of the spread of the new corornavirus.
From the MS team are the heads of the Commissions for emergency medicine and epidemiology of the Ministry of Health, prof.dr. Diana Cimpoieșu, respectively prof.dr. Doina Azzo's. The team is completed by the executive director of the Directorate of Public Health Iași, associate professor Lucian Indrei, coordinator of public health departments in the NE Region.
After the first day of verification, the MS team decided to close the County Clinical Hospital starting today for 48 hours in order to perform the disinfection procedures.
Today, the transfer of the 124 patients who are still admitted to the hospital in other healthcare units will begin, as follows:
– The patients confirmed positive at COVID 19 will be assigned to the Infectious Diseases section of the Suceava County Hospital, which is in a separate pavilion building. This clinic has 248 beds, of which 108 are currently occupied.
– Patients confirmed negative to COVID 19 that do not represent emergencies will continue their treatment at home isolated under the supervision of the family doctor
– Patients who are confirmed negatively and represent medical emergencies that need treatment in a healthcare unit will be transferred to hospitals in Iasi County, according to pathology.
In 48 hours, it is estimated that the Emergency Reception Unit of the Suceava County Clinical Hospital is open, which is undergoing the disinfection process. UPU will start operating again with medical personnel transferred from medical clinics in Iași, private clinics in Suceava, as well as staff from the County Inspectorate for Emergency Situations in Suceava.
All patients who will be investigated and diagnosed in the UPU of SCUJ Suceava will be directed to continue treatment in the medical units in Fălticeni and Rădăuți. Those with severe pathology will be directed to the medical units in Iasi.
Regarding the medical staff, in the health unit there are 1300 people, medical and auxiliary staff.
Of the 233 doctors of the health unit, 34 are confirmed positively at COVID 19. They are admitted to the Hospital of Infectious Diseases Suceava, the rest are in isolation for 14 days at home.
Also, 49 nurses and nurses confirmed with COVID 19 from the county hospital are also admitted to the Hospital of Infectious Diseases Suceava.
The MS team decided that, after disinfection, the Suceava County Clinical Hospital would become a medical unit in which to treat the cases infected with the new coronavirus.
The Ministry of Health has allocated 5 million lei for the continuation of investments and the endowment of the new hospital in Fălticeni. The Ministry also allocated 750,000 lei to the Directorate of Public Health in Suceava for the acquisition of a molecular detection system (Real Time PCR).
